White House Issue: E-mails Missing or Deleted?

We are all aware of the new reliance of people with regards to electronic mail today as a proof of conversations and communication between two parties or groups. The US administration has used this new offer of technology as a means of communicating internally and this includes both confident and common communication proceedings.

White House Emails Missing?

It is also a fact that that administration has been under fire for the reported loss of over 5 million e-mails at the White House server and this is an issue that could go out of bounds considering that it is a violation of the federal Presidential Records Act.

It has not yet been confirmed if the loss of the tons of e-mails were done intentionally but one thing is for sure, the White House is all screwed up!

Here is an excerpt from CNN surrounding this issue:

Millions of White House e-mails may be missing, White House spokeswoman Dana Perino acknowledged Friday.

“I wouldn’t rule out that there were a potential 5 million e-mails lost,” Perino told reporters.

The administration was already facing sharp questions about whether top presidential advisers including Karl Rove improperly used Republican National Committee e-mail that the White House said later disappeared.

The latest comments were a response to a new report from a liberal watchdog group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), alleging that over a two-year period official White House e-mail traffic for hundreds of days has vanished — in possible violation of the federal Presidential Records Act.

“This story is really now a two-part issue,” CREW’s Melanie Sloan told CNN. “First there’s the use of the RNC e-mail server that’s inappropriate by White House officials and secondly we’ve also learned that there were between March of 2003 and October of 2005 apparently over 5 million e-mail that were not preserved and these are e-mail on the regular White House server.”

Perino stressed there’s no indication the e-mails were intentionally lost, but she was careful not to dispute the outside group’s allegations. “I’m not taking issue with their conclusions at this point,” Perino said. “We’re checking into them. There are 1,700 people in the Executive Office of the President.” – White House: Millions of e-mails may be missing; CNN News April 13, 2007.

Huckabee Blasts Jackson, Sharpton and Media

Mike HuckabeeRepublican Candidate Mike Huckabee spoke about the impending issue regarding the possible firing of talk-show host Don Imus stating that if this would be the case then perhaps all talk show hosts should be fired as well.

Apparently, this controversy has stemmed from the issues that have been made public such as that of the Rutger Women’s Basketball team. He also emphasized in hitting Revs. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton for their part in the case as well.

Obviously, the role of media in such issues has been way going overboard. But to get ratings up and attract attention, this seems to be the current practice all over the world. Hence if there are condemnations to be made, is should be made through all media and not for the account of one man only.

Two US Wars for the Price of One

Gates on US Troops TenureLove it or leave it, the ongoing crisis with the United States mission to cope up with its involvement in separate but simultaneous wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is taking its toll for the sent US troops. It is simply hard to fight off two wars while making sure there are sufficient troops to handle them.

As a sort of standard to be put on all active soldiers, Defense Secretary Robert Gates has declared all troops to serve 15-month tours, a move that was envisioned to help in properly scheduling the dispatch of US troops in the war plagues countries.

It is evident that the US troops are finding it difficult to cope up with two wars but as dedicated they are towards serving their country, these supposedly new moves will help put equal footing as far as duties are concerned for the US in its involvement in the said wars to date.

Cracking Down On Illegal Immigrants in the US

Bush on Illegal Immigration
Finding something else that can stir up some noise, it is now the turn of illegally residing individuals in the area of the United States to feel the heat. President Bush has now promised to make better reforms to distinguish the authentic from the illegally residing individuals in the country today.

While there is no threat that can be seen in the form of the fight for terror, it is better safe than to be sorry. Problem is even the people who are just after greener pastures will have to bear the attention and laws that would be passed out from such.

People have viewed this as a means of trying to win back potential votes for President Bush, something that he has been losing lately due to various run-ins with Congress and questionable leading. While such an issue may sound to be interesting, it still isn’t in the area of what he has already done. But basing everything on what he has already done, it looks like Bush still has a lot of catching up to do from hereon.

Another Justice Official Resigns

Monica GoodlingAs the Justice Department continues to draw fire, the more people are slowly curling their tails and wanting out from being caught in the limelight. The latest withdrawal came from Senior Justice Official Monica Goodling, who passed her resignation as counselor to the attorney general which will take effect on April 7.

Goodling is known for invoking the 5th amendment in her refusal to testify before congress. This in turn had raised a lot of controversy, placing her on the hot seat. Topping it all off was her sudden resignation which as usual, triggered widespread confusion since no reason was given by Goodling and at the same time was caught unaware.

At the moment, no clear reason could be pinpointed to her reason. But if there is one person that will surely suffer from this development, it would be Atty. Gen. Gonzales who is seemingly slowly losing his grip on the said department.

Voter Fraud Revelation in 2004 Elections

When election time comes, there would be common issues regarding how electoral candidates would vie passionately for seats in the governing body offices, especially the coveted presidential seat that would lead countries today.

US Voter Fraud

The issue regarding the relieving of US attorneys has still been in the air and another twist concerning the 2004 elections has been blurted out in the open that included voter fraud. For most countries, this issue is not surprising. Considering that politics is a web of concern that most people would want to get into since power is the obvious agenda for winning in set election periods.

Sad but true, this issue, a clear issue and has been revealed in line with the conflict in taking up the firing of the US attorneys. Slowly but surely, the reason behind why they were indeed relieved has been escalating and more findings are sure to come out soon.

Detained British in Iran For Swap or Not?

Iran and Britain Dispute

And so the new twist has Great Britain in the center of things with the capture of 15 British sailors and marines in Iran who were caught in Iran waters. Apparently, the Iranians are bargaining for the release of 5 Iranians held by US forces.

With the Americans in the mix, President Bush has lambasted the demands, making it another media circus where the negotiations being pushed for are totally uncalled for since the 15 captives were purely on routine.

While Bush pledged full support for Great Britain Prime Minster Tony Blair, everything lies on a stand still. As each day passes, more issues on this matter is sure to escalate. But Bush proclaims that peaceful efforts as headed by Britain’s PM Blair will be the best solution. Hopefully the Iranians would also see it in the way that they do to avoid further controversies and bloodshed if ever no compromise would be reached.

Good Point On Iraq War

While many have criticized President Bush’s every move and decision-making ordeals with regards to the Iraq war, his latest appeal for longer patience is something I would agree with. Stating that the issue of the demand for the end of the Iraq war is easier said than done, it would take some months before the war can be considered truly over.

Bush and Iraq War Issue

The democratic parties are planning to bring up the issue to tackle on the request of President Bush for additional funding for the US troops that he wants to send to the ongoing Iraq war crisis. While many perceive the move as totally heartless since it would mean giving up further lives for country, the funds part is something that has drawn the ire of the people, especially the ones seated in government positions.

While the point raised by the President may be commendable, the fact remains that sending additional troops will only escalate matters. Hopefully Bush has an answer to this as well to spare innocent American lives.

North Korea Threatens to Continue Nuclear Activities

Just when everyone thought that the nuclear issue with North Korea had already been settled, the Nokors have now threatened to continue nuclear activities if the $25 million frozen at the Macau bank are not released soon. The said money was connected with regards to the money laundering issue conducted by the US Treasury Department at the Banco Delta Asia.

North Korea Nuke Money Laundering Issue

Although a part of the frozen funds have been released, North Korea’s President Kim Kye Gwan said Pyongyang was expecting all the funds to be released last February 13 upon an agreement to which they would close down all nuclear facilities that has become a widespread issue to the world today.

In this regard, North Korea has again emphasized that it shall not put a halt the nuclear activities until all the frozen funds have been cleared and released. Although nothing has been officially ironed out, chief American negotiator Christopher Hill strongly believes that the BDA issue will be settled soon and officially end the impending issue regarding this nuclear dilemma made popular today.

Cheap Medical Attention for War Veterans

And so the probe continues. The current issue surrounding the cheap medical treatment and attention that US troops have been getting from the Walter Reed Army Medical Center seems to be escalating as more issues are being unraveled as the days go by. Finger pointing and getting to the bottom of all issues concerned is certainly something that has been common and it would not be surprising to see President Bush’ name among the people to be blamed.

Walter Reed Medical Center Scandal

To date, former Army Secretary Francis Harvey has been forced to resign because of the issue and it will not take long before some other big names would follow. The US troops have become a sensitive issue as of late and with this dilemma now brought into the open, the media will certainly have a field day in exposing the issue at hand. Perhaps even the candidates may use this as leverage in their campaign since attending to the current needs seems to be more important to get those votes in their corner.
