Finger Pointing Time or Deliberation of Facts for Bush

Iraq has been long in the headlines and to date, the Iraq war policy shall be put under close scrutiny soon and President Bush knows it all too well. Among the expected highlights would be that of placing the blame on Osama Bin Laden for defense of the said policy, something that is perhaps seen to come in automatically to justify the claims.

President Bush

The Iraq-US war seems to be endless and despite such policies which mostly states offensive strategies and security measures among such, will definitely be storming the headlines in the politics section of most newspapers and publications in the next couple of weeks.

President Bush has solicited the tag of putting the entire issue on a personal level. While many can understand why, the issue of using the US troops as his pawns with nothing relevant to gain has been questioned time and again. At this stage, it will not be surprising if such an address would solicit the same reactions as well.

Talon Program to be Junked Soon

The surveillance and unorthodox manner of being able to monitor terrorist activities in the region of the United States has been overwhelming but the various practices and resort in being able to do so have its limits as well. Among the controversial means that has drawn the ire of most is that of the TALON program or Threat and Local Observation Notice database that was put into place in 2003.

Talon Program Pentagon

Based on the assessment of undersecretary of defense James Clapper, there is no merit and has actually produced disappointing results as seen from the program. It has catered more in sparkling controversial information by invading privacies in terms of collecting information on peace activists and monitoring anti-war protests across the country.

The whole purpose of the TALON program has evidently failed and from the looks of it, it shall soon be rebuked. That is if defense secretary Robert Gates has nothing to say about this issue.

Time for Spring Cleaning at Washington

As usual, US troops have taken center stage with regards to the issues besetting the country as of today. The latest update is that of Army Secretary Francis J. Harvey’s resignation due to low standard conditions with regards to taking care of wounded troops at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

Francis J. Harvey

This obviously stemmed from President Bush’ latest move on making a review of the country’s network of military and veteran hospitals booked with a lot of casualties of the troops who served for the Iraqi war. The level of quality for providing patient care has obviously deteriorated and this has caught the ire of Harvey since he would be held liable and probably the scapegoat once it totally gets out of hand.

Left with not alternative, Defense Secretary Robert Gates accepted Harvey’s resignation. This was a move seen as forecasting his evident removal allowing him to exit before the bomb explodes and fingers start pointing. Whatever the case may be, for sure, Harvey will still be cited once this issue dramatizes in the coming days.

Falling Markets, Falling Economy… Again?

Perhaps in one of the alarming news that has graced leading tabloids and newspapers is the downfall of the stock market, a crisis that has alarmed most parts of the world. The stocks have been pummeling and the people are slowly panicking. Rightfully so, this is not a good sign for investors and the overall economy of the world as a whole.

Market Downfall

People would not understand the importance of stock falls. Their worth in the market is something that has significant contribution especially in trading practices of leading corporations and one company’s downfall becomes a domino effect that will include the other companies who trade and offer their stocks for sale to raise the essential funds to keep themselves at par.

Additional capital in the form of stocks offered in the market is its main prerogative and low turnouts and stock value tumbling affects the entire economy and not just one corporation. The impact that falls in the stock market impacts everything in the world of business and such feedbacks of market downfall is indeed a cause for alarm in most cases.

US Elections Focusing Too Much on Iraq Conflict

As in most elections, the usual denominator would be that of to find a key area of interest that would further get the attention and nod of possible voters to pay more attention to them and their supposed purpose for running for office. For any electoral candidate, this is the flagship of their overall campaign. And to get the attention would indeed circle around current issues to which people would want answers and actions towards addressing them and what they may have in store for such.

Fake Candidates and Empty Promises

The real question remains, are these claims for course of action towards standing issues for real or simply for word of mouth only to get the approval of their votes. Such would not be really surprising considering that it has been a traditional practice that candidates would make promises but nothing would materialize in the end. But people are wiser. Beforehand, they would know if they are really capable of doing such promises or are simply in it to buy the vote of the people.

$130 Billion for National Security?

A few days after certain bills were passed for the overall improvement of the economy of the United States of America; a new proposal that would aid the US military has been circling around. An estimated amount of $130 Billion has been reported to be proposed by President Bush, but no matter what amount it may be, it still cannot replace the lives that were taken in the continuing war against Iraq.

War and Money

The motion has yet to be made official, but this early, speculations are rising that this will be another issue at hand, considering it is about the Iraq war again and that of the proposal of President Bush. The intent is good as far as security for the country is concerned, but one cannot help but wonder if such funding and requested budget may be aimed at reinforcing ammunition and artillery to the war plagued country. Also, not to be forgotten in the nuclear issues that North Korea and Iran have take the world by storm. Should this be the case, it would be best itemized before the budget is approved and passed.

Iran Courting Nuclear Holocaust?

The nuclear issue seems to be hopping from one nation to another. After getting reports and fears that North Korea is gearing up for a nuclear armed military, attention has now shifted towards Iran as doing the same thing under wraps. While the claims are of course denied and are deemed as overreactions, Iran can possibly consider it by taking its cue from the North Korea talks.

Iran's Nuclear Threat

No one knows for sure why and how all the gossip has been spreading. From all indications Iran has been out of the circle of controversies of nations today. Most of the surrounding issues have been focused on Iraq and North Korea. But now, similar to that of how North Korea gained media attention, Iran is in the doldrums of being put on the hot seat this time around. Nuclear preparations alarm the world at any instance, hence Iran may now find it useful to watch its movement since all eyes are now also on them as well.

Presidential Candidates’ Promise for 2008

With a lot of things to consider and things to ponder, the best way to garner votes for the coming 2008 US Presidential Elections is to let people hear what they want to happen. Some would say better energy sources issues, some want reforms, and some would want an end to the Iraqi War debacle. The list goes on and on and among them, it would be up to the presidential hopefuls to single out which among them would be the theme of their campaign bandwagon.

Elections Up Close

For Democratic Sen. Barrack Obama, emphasis would be on universal heath care, something that has become the important things for most people today. While such promises are appealing to the ears of the masses, it cannot be avoided on how thick this promise would stand. Would it be for simple attraction or would the person truly do something about it? Based on experience, seated president’s have yet to fulfill all their promises and this 2008, hopefully the next one would be able to stand up and hold true his promise.

Anti-Terror Legislation passed by US Democrats as Promised

Learning from the 9/11 attacks and the continued wrath of terror worldwide, the United States house parties have started passing of the various bills to keep its word of a string of promises made last fall.

Security is certainly the top issue for the United States at the moment, as it has been the target of most terrorists for the past years. It will be recalled that the World Trade Center debacle was the chief instigator of it all, where innocent bystanders and workers perished during the merciless attack on the United States.

Tighter Security Measures

It can be noted that a number of new techniques to carry out these terrorism attacks have been apprehended, and while there is no promise that all of these attempts can be countered or addressed, immediate security measures and policies have been sent out for the benefit of the casual population today.

It is obvious that the critical point for which these devices of terrorism can originate is from the same way that the World Trade Center was attacked, that of which is through aeronautical means of travel and transport towards various countries of the world.

New Iraqi Plan of Attack to be Announced…Again?

President Bush' Announcement

For days now, there have been rumors, news, gossips and speculations regarding the new plan of attack that United States President Bush has been keeping under wraps with regards to the Iraq war issue. The overall gist of the announcements has been regarding the deployment of additional troops to the war plagued nation.

As always, this has drawn continued criticism of the seemingly never ending conflict. Being more on the offensive seems to be harvesting the war and allowing it to reach outrageous levels rather than ending it. Such can be seen from the various criticisms that Bush has been receiving from his countrymen and some nations as well.

The insights shared by the democratic front of the US are only normal. War casualties are growing and sending more to prove the power of the US is only aggravating the issue. For sure, this issue will rest in the annals of US history as conflicting and for Bush, it seems that it has become more of a personal war and vendetta rather than resolving an issue that can obviously be settled with the elimination of where it all started, that of which was with the late Saddam Hussein.
