What do you think about using Pop-ups after the user has already received the information that they want? For example, my site requires registration from the landing page, but I allow search traffic into the site from the SERP. I currently have it so that there is a banner displayed at the top of the page telling them to register when they get done looking at the page. But I want to remove the banner and create a pop-up so that after they read the content, if they try to click additional links a pop-up will be displayed asking them to register.

Does this fall into your "Stay away from Pop-ups" advice?

[...] I love blogs. To be honest, though, I used to NOT care about blogs at all. Yet when I started reading some really good blogs and then I started maintaining my own blog, I realized just how fun they can be. But have you heard of some web site owners who have turned to blogging merely for SEO purposes?
