The Issue on Emergency Command Authority

While the proper steps towards who should truly be in charge of issues governing national security issues has been far from established, Defense Secretary Robert Gates’ decision to reject the said proposal that will allow governors to take control of active duty troops to respond to disasters is only normal. Taking command from authorized military and security personnel requires proper protocol and governors may not be fully aware of this as a whole.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates

With the various calamities that have been happening one after another, like the tornadoes that have hit Kansas, immediate response towards the security concerns and disaster coordination have been something that has taken much of the issue at hand with regards to faster action. Lives are at stake and safety as well, but even if such were granted towards the tutelage of the governors, there is no assurance that proper measures can be done nor an assurance that these can also be helpful as a whole.

Approved Funds for Pullout Timetable

Since the push of President Bush’ with regards for additional funding for deployed troops in Iraq was made public, many people from congress and the country have seen it as a form of pushing the war to the next level and disregarding the overall safety of the US troops, something that has been in the news for some time now.

Congress to Push for Iraq Troop Withdrawal

But while this was viewed negatively, there have been rants for approving the funding incrementally in exchange for slowly pulling out the troops and funding the military needs through a timetable that congress will pass. From all indications, such is a good compromise since setting down the framework for such an ordeal is something that will sit well for both parties.

But the question remains, will Bush bite? Armed with a lot of pride, this resolution may perhaps be a good mark in determining on whether Bush is really intent on putting an end to it all, or is just gearing up to go on the offensive all the more to dominate the war plagued Iraq at the expense of additional US troops.

Finally a Compromise on the US Budget Issue!

Probably seeing that the issue is getting nowhere, US Democrats have mapped out plans to revise the current $2.9 trillion dollar spending budget that was mainly comprised of a big spending increase in the area of military and domestic programs, something that has put everything on hold and with no recourse.

Compromised Budget

Budgets are known to be a need, and the need is certainly something that needs to be worked on double time. While most disagreements are a given in the world of politics, it is the country that is suffering from these endless bickering over allocations and budgets.

With the new move of the democratic front, hopefully something concrete would finally come out. There is a need to set the records straight and unless personal interests, if any, are set aside, a whole nation shall continuously suffer from such and this would not be something that maybe a pretty sight.

Looking out for Barrack Obama’s Safety

Death threats are only natural for the US president and potential successors of the thrown to receive. But in the case of Barrack Obama, taking the initiative in making the necessary precautions to avoid any untoward mishaps before the actual elections take place is at the top of his party’s list.

Barack Obama Security

The issue here has a mix or racial issues. It is a fact that Obama hails from a colored race and based on past historical events, the colored candidates have not had a good track record.

Obama will soon step up his campaign drive and this all the more becomes crucial for him since he is as good as a sitting duck. Obama has been placed under a secret service protection to be on the safe side. The additional security precaution was deemed necessary since it is obvious that Obama is one target that people may eventually want to bring down.

Respect for Flag and Country

It has been customary practice for military personnel to pay respects to fallen comrades in the field of duty by properly reporting them to their superiors and commanding officers to be able to account for fallen soldiers in the battlefield.

Fallen Soldiers of Iraq

Surprisingly, in a study conducted by the Pentagon on troops at Iraq, a low 40 percent were found to take the initiative or reporting fallen comrades. This surprising number would then suggest that a number of casualties of war are not totally accounted for, making it a lot curious at the number of soldiers who may be unaccounted for, especially in the midst of the ongoing war in the plagued country.

Serving the country at the expense of lives is one thing and it is but proper to account for the men, even just by name itself and pay tribute or last respects to be able to inform relatives and dependents on their demise. It is the least thing that governments can do in exchange for lives brought out in the open for the sake of the country.
