The ability to listen well is probably one of the most important business skills you can have. Few people actually are actively listening when other people are talking. They are thinking about the point they will make as soon as the other person finishes speaking or debating the merits of eating lunch at a fast food place versus eating at the desk.
There are a few good techniques that can help with listening:
* Remind yourself every few seconds that you are listening, not getting ready to talk.
* Let the other person know you are listening by restating what he or she is saying before you go on to make your point.
* Ask for clarification if you feel that you’ve missed what the other person was saying.
Do you have any great listening tips to share? I’d love to hear them!

As many baby boomers reach the age of retirement, they seek to redefine retirement just as they redefined all of the ages they went through before.
Rather than an end to work, many are looking at it as a beginning to a new career path. With longer lifespans and better health, this might be the wiser choice for many of them. It also provides a good backup for people who haven’t saved as much as they wanted for retirement as of yet.

To develop and market a product in any environment is something that takes a lot of planning and careful evaluation of the market. Product development is not an easy task, and careful evaluation of governing factors such as the socio-economic factors as well as the financial capacity of the class a company may want to cater to are only some of the many implications considered prior to actual product launching.
Everything lies in identifying these needs that people will go after. Usually, the top of the list would be food, since everyone knows that this is quite important for a person to exist and survive. Question is what type of food genre?
Chin Chin Black Gulaman mixes a savvy of oriental taste with a unique desert or drink that is usually sought by people in Chinese or Oriental run restaurants. Normally, this is just available on a per order basis, and hence became a vision for the owners of enhancing their bottled beverage line, which already included such drinks as the Chin Chin Green Tea variants that include honey, lemon, apple and unsweetened jasmine green tea.
A product catered for the Class A and B groups, placing and penetrating the beverage market is not an easy task. Thanks to the existence of local imitators who emphasize more on price over quality, has become a setback of sorts since it entirely defeats the purpose of green tea, a supposedly acclaimed health drink for the health conscious individual. The price variance is truly different and sad to say, these local players, may as well sell iced tea rather than promote a faulty health drink, which has been proven not to contain any trace of actual green tea mixture, but only a mixture of artificial flavoring and water. Considering they have studied the behavior of the local community very well, truly, it is the cost of purchasing one bottle that has been the difference. Thus the local folks are proven not to be after the quality of the product they buy, but rather the cost of getting a bottle for their consumption.

Whether you’re starting a small business for the first time and you’vehired employees or you have received a promotion that places you in a management, the transition to manager can be challenging. Suddenly, you’re one of “them” and the same people who used to hang out at the lunch table with you are complaining about you to each other. How do you make a successful transition from employee to manager? It can be challenging. A few tips:
* You’ll have to come to the painful realization that you won’t be able to go back to being pals at the water cooler. However, you can, and should, let the people you are managing know that you are willing to listen to their concerns and that you are all in this together.
* Never gossip with former co-workers that you now manage about other co-workers or complain to them about decisions from the boss. They won’t respect you for it and office morale will be lowered. However, you should let all of your employees know that you will be happy to provide clarification on unclear policies or find out why certain policies were implemented.
* Take classes and go to seminars for managers and administrators. Being in management is very different from being an employee and training will help you speed up the learning process.

Looking for various ways to remedy personal dilemmas as occasional depression, low adrenalin and trying to find the attention needed to help act as a different source of medication has been one of the things that most people are looking for. Surely, the usual medicines such as anti-depressants, psychology counseling or just a plain constant partner to be with are the immediate responses that people would give as remedies for people who are feeling down and blue.
Funny, but one remedy that has proven to be effective is that of blogging. Today, the blog craze has invaded the world by storm, and practically all countries have a number of people blogging on their own, with the topic and category of their choosing, without limits. What people cannot say in public with confidence, they can do in their personal blogs and no one can stop them from doing so. Similar to having an online diary, people go to the extent of making it an online reference guide for some, sharing views, ideas and such for people who want to learn more about a certain topic. Some go to the extent of even using the various revenue generating scheme from them, and this has helped in both ways, both for the person posting and the ones seeking the information.
Going back a bit, blogging helps a person release the tension and aches he has inside. Most people would not be able to give in towards the needs and understand of every person, and blogging has proven to be something worthwhile for them. Additionally, there is a marketing connection here, since once a person is able to express what he is and surely this will come to a point where his or her readers would have an idea of what he or she is overall, a indirect personal brand building process is in the works!
There are a number of sites to which people can blog. Aside from the usual features that Friendster, Myspace, Multiply and Xanga provide, people can purely concentrate on blogging and have their thoughts heard. How to classify this new way of remedy? Well, for now, I would rather call it a natural and psychological manner since there is no relative definition why blogs have given people another means of outlet for their own good and relief. Why not start a blog now and see for yourself if this new fad can truly hit the spot!

To create an impression as far as showcasing the different qualification and experiences that an individual may have is something that most job seekers and ambitious career advancing yuppies will always gun for. The search for the ideal resume or bio-data to submit to employers and head hunters are varied, and honestly there is no such thing as the perfectly formatted resume. But one good tip, do not submit an essay of your qualifications and stick to eye-catching achievements, distinctive qualifications and unique work experience.
Employers will not waste time reading the entire resume.
They are after the experience and actual skills a person has. Once they get a hold of the resume, it is almost a given that they will immediately look for the summary of skills that an applicant has, and if he or she is a fit to the opening that is being filled up. The level of education is another thing, and for people who have earned their spot in being considered among the top positions, like a DBA or MBA degree will be more than enough to catch their interest.
Unnecessary add-ins like minor citations from previous employers that do not have a bearing on the work at hand, or maybe even heading sports heads during their college days, are some of the things that make a resume long. As much as possible, limit the number of words or content that a resume will have, clearly formatting and wording ones self, considering the resume, a piece of paper that assists in marketing himself towards the company that he is geared on joining.

Most people would wonder what strategies would be best for people to gain a faster headway in climbing the corporate ladder. Well, outside the usual investment of hard work and job knowledge, there is also that invisible factor called promoting camaraderie and that line in the job vacancy ad stating “should be a team player. Think of it, how a person can effectively survive if he or she is unable to fit in the group and work conveniently.
The key here is the ability to swallow your pride. Not to many people find this easy but in a professional environment where you are exposed to different kinds of people of varying attitudes and background, getting along and gaining chemistry will be something that most companies would take into due consideration. Besides who will be the ultimate benefactor, but the organization as well?
This has bearing in being able to become a candidate for some of the key positions that are open in the organization. The total performance of an employee is surely weighed in more ways than one and that such will be a key point for consideration once promotion and corporate alignment is due. People who refuse and fail to adjust to these different environments usually don’t stay long in the organization, or if not, would forever wait for that big break, something that will not materialize until they wake up and do the necessary adjustments in being able to adopt to the total environment.
